and forever in peace may she wave
the emblem of
the land I love
the home of the free and the brave
For some reason the 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays- and you don't even get presents! I don't know if its the parades, the BBQs, the fireworks or the fact that at Camp on the 4th we would march on down to the boys camp & have a dance & bonfire. My love of the 4th has only grown since the establishment of the Flagstaff Yacht Club and our annual clambake following marching in the Flagstaff parade- someone said yesterday that everyone before they die should march in a small town parade- a sentiment I wholeheartedly support. Instead of a traditional float this year we decided to haul our fleet through town which was well received by the parade-goers. After the parade we pulled our boats to the party house & proceeded to cook 45 (!) live, Maine lobsters & 5 lbs of steamers for our guests- everyone left happy & full. Lily seemed to love her 1st parade, sleeping through the prep but waking up to smile from her stroller right when we started marching.
