Alexis & Ron were camped right by the race course, so the girls & I went there for coffee & french toast (yum) while we waited for the runners.
the finish!!
Tom stole my coveted entry to the Soulstice Race- it is a fun 11 mile trail run that takes place up in the mountains outside of town- followed by hotdogs & beer (yum). He did great in the race- placing 3rd in his age group & 6th (or something) overall. I've seen Tom run in my fair share of races & I am ALWAYS amazed that he gets to the start on time. Must be his years of competitive racing, b/c no matter what he sails right into his starting position less than a minute before the race begins. Well, this year as I was telling a friend that story I noticed that Tom was NOWHERE to be seen about 1 minute before the start....30 sec before the start or AT the start! He missed the start by at least 1 minute (turns out he had locked himself in a pit toilet down the road a bit). He showed up just as the back of the pack was fading from view- stripping off his pants & sweatshirt as he ran... Imagine how well he would've done if he made the start. :)
