identifying lichen & learning about vesicles
Not the best picture of me, but a look at the belly
Snowballs! Why are they always being thrown at me?
Lily, learning the lesson of why we don't walk off the trail.
We had to stop to read every sign.
In our efforts to make Lily a 2nd generation geologist, we decided to take a little Sunday morning field trip to Sunset Crater. It was amazingly beautiful out there with all of the cinder cones covered in snow & it was almost too much for Tom to not be allowed to ski or sled there.
The nature trail is conviently plowed and has new interpretive signs around it, a lot of which included pictures by my boss, Tom Bean.
We had fun walking around, playing in the snow & checking out the rocks (that we could see) Lily learned what lichen was & how to identify it- which is important. ;)
