Sliding & sightseeing

Practicing her supermodel pose

She LOVED swimming, but didn't realize how slippery the rocks were, hence the lifejacket

2 supermodels in training

In Jerome

Lily the miner- it was hard to get her to hold still (shocking)

The view from Tuzigoot

Ali, Lily & I ventured down to Sedona last Thursday to get wet at Slide Rock- a natural water"slide" in Oak Creek Canyon. We got there before the crowds and enjoyed our shady spot & swimming. Lily even got to go down the baby slide- and had a BLAST.

Friday, the three ladies went to the steep mountainside town/artist colony/mining town/western city of ill-repute of Jerome.
We walked around the steep sidewalks, checked out the cool old buildings, had some lunch and enjoyed the sweeping views of N. AZ.
After Jerome, we headed down to Tuzigoot, an old Sinagua ruin, which I learned was actually named by an Apache worker- it's an Apache word despite the fact that the Sinagua & Apaches aren't related. It was a neat looking ruin, but is reconstructed, which was what you did back then. Personally, I think it's much cooler when they haven't been touched.
Saturday, Lily & I drove Ali down to the airport & saw her onto the plane back to NH.
Lily spent most of the ride home saying "Ayyee?" and didn't really stop until a few days ago.
