skunk season

Ahh skunks...one of the many joys of Flagstaff- we used to have 2 fatties that lived beneath our deck at our old house & luckily, Jack has avoided their ire (knock on wood) out here in the woods of Mtn Dell... Alas, poor Coco escaped the house Sunday night & we didn't see her until Monday afternoon. She was welcomed back with open arms, but then we smelled her....and detected l'eau de pepe.... Thankfully, it wasn't a direct hit. With a nice bath Tues morning & some time in the bathroom & basement she is now smelling better than she has for awhile!
It was nice seeing her all wet as the chubby kitty we thought we had is really all fur...

oh no, poor Coco! Floppy, the dog we cared for the year we lived up at the top of N. San Francisco got skunked in the mouth once last year when I was housesitting up there. It was awful! She got all foamy at the mouth and I had to hose her off in the backyard with dish soap and baking soda. It did the trick though, not a trace of skunk smell afterward.
