saturday, saturday, saturday!!!!

We are celebrating Fathers Day a day early in our family since I won't be here tomorrow. To celebrate Tom, I'm letting him sleep as long as he wants, but its going on 8:30 and I'm getting itchy to cook the blueberry pancakes I have prepped- I'm hungry! I'll include pictures of his presents once he wakes up & opens them!!!!!

I heard this story on NPR (click for the podcast) this morning about the 4 Boy Scouts killed by a tornado earlier this week and it made me cry, everyone should listen to it just to be reminded how amazing kids can be if we let them. Its also a good reason to sit and think about all of the blessings we all have in our life. We spend too much of our time taking the easy way out and thinking about the negative things people do, this story was a great reminder that people, even the littlest of us, are good.
I took this picture of Lily's dinner a few nights ago, sweet potatoes, corn and zucchini because I loved the colors- I've been making all of her food since she started eating solids & its really easy & fun. The other day I tried to give her store-bought organic baby food (I wanted her to try meat & the idea of chicken in the blender grossed me out) as soon as I opened the jar and smelled that jar of baby food smell I knew she wouldn't like it- and she didn't. I felt bad feeding it to her... All of which means I may have created a monster- a 'real food' monster which I guess is the best kind. I guess if all you've known is fresh sweet potatoes & zucchini you can understand why she wouldn't want something that didn't even smell like food.. What a snob.. :)

That's one sexy baby. I totally made that onesie. Good job on the homemade baby food, I hope I've got the same convictions when the time comes.

i didn't realize until after I posted the picture that she looks a little scandalous & it just says 'sex' on her front (that we can read)
